John Bannerman Fellowship in Journalism

Named after the first indigenous newspaper proprietor and journalist in the Gold Coast, Bannerman Fellows are promising media students who are committed to practicing journalism after their graduation. Over a two-year period, they would be given a firm grounding in Ghanaian political and socio-economic history, international relations, finance, climate, and other issues. They would also have access to industry standard equipment at the GMT. In addition, they would be exposed to all the newest trends in international journalism, as well as internships and coaching, and mentoring. Bannerman Fellows will graduate as journalists who can hold their own in any newsroom in the world. The objective is to graduate an elite group of 20-25 journalists every 2 years.
